Patrols around Burbage include the Allotments off Brookside, Balliol Road, Three Pots estate and the Hotels.
We have received a couple of reports of suspicious behaviour in areas such as Herald Way and Brookside. It was found these calls were calls of good intent.
We have also been working with residents to support with crime reduction items, Hinckley council regarding anti-social behaviour reports and supporting with enquiries around some shoplifting.
Crime prevention and issues to be aware of
A resident has been in touch to raise awareness around any blue badge holders. Whilst there have been no reported issues in Burbage, Blue badges can be targeted by thieves if left lying around when they do not need to be. Please also be mindful around leaving items such as bags, loose change and laptops on display. Any items that are left on display could attract criminal attention and end up causing you a lot of inconvenience due to replacing items and repairing damage.
Following a couple of recent reports of theft of tools from vans, mainly on hotel car parks, please be mindful around these types of crime if you have a van and keep tools on them. Hotel car parks around the country tend to be hotspots for this type of crime as they are generally easy targets. We are completing patrols ongoing at our locations in Burbage, but these crimes can and do happen at any time. We have worked with the hotels to explore ways of reducing risk and improving evidence gathering following incidents.
If you have teenage children or grandchildren, with several school holidays coming up over the next few months, please have a chat and ensure they are aware of the impact that bad behaviour can have on residents. Whilst the majority of children are respectful and well behaved, without fail, every year we get individuals or small groups that cause a disproportionate amount of trouble, stress and upset to residents. Be mindful of where your children are, who they are associating with and what they are up to. We will always do our best to identify those involved, we work with local schools and Hinckley council to identify and take action against those involved.
Thank you and take care.
